We’ve all been there; summer rolls around, so it’s time to start up your air conditioner, but then the unthinkable happens: your air conditioner blows warm air instead of cold. Despite the alarming nature of the situation, don’t panic! The problem may not be as serious as you might think.
Before you call an air conditioner repair specialist, there are some solutions you can check on your own that may resolve the problem. For instance, the first place to look is always at your thermostat. Many thermostats have a “fan only” setting which only moves unconditioned air through the system. If you own a heat pump, there might also be a possibility your system is heating your home instead of cooling it! As obvious a solution as it may seem, it never hurts to check the thermostat first to avoid an unnecessary call.
Another common problem you can check is outside, at your air conditioning unit itself. If you notice that your air conditioner isn’t running, check your circuit breaker; the breaker your system runs on may have tripped, which you can easily resolve by resetting it at your breaker box.
Sometimes, though, the answer is not a simple fix you can handle yourself. If you encounter a more serious problem, call an Air Conditioner Repair Specialist.
