CBS 19 News recently reported that about 4,000 Smith County residents are expected to go without heat this winter. So, as part of our Giving the Gift of Warmth project, we at East Texas Refrigeration decided to help a family who has been without a heated home.

Our friends at Habitat for Humanity of Smith County selected Tyler resident Patricia Hawkins, who has been living without heat each winter. As our gift to Patricia, we installed a new central heating and A/C unit (a value of about $5,000) in her home. With this new system, Patricia and her two grandchildren were finally able to have a warm Christmas. It was such a joy to help Patricia and her family, and we hope to make this a tradition and give warmth to an East Texas Family every year as part of the Giving the Gift of Warmth project.

CBS 19 News reported on our rewarding experience with Patricia.

Also, East Texas Refrigeration would like to thank everyone who donated blankets to our Giving the Gift of Warmth project. Your willingness to participate was wonderful. With the help of The Salvation Army and the Tyler Community, we were able to double our original goal and give over 200 blankets to community members in need. East Texas Refrigeration owner Todd Green hopes that the Giving the Gift of Warmth project gets stronger with each year. “We got such a great response out of the blanket drive, that we’ll do that annually now…it’s a small effort that can help a lot of people,” said Todd Green.

We wish our valued customers a safe, enjoyable winter season. Remember we have 24/7 emergency service to help keep your home warm and cozy this winter.
